Coach
I have been a firm believer in placing the ball about 3 yards from the hash. The last 5 years I have had a kicker who can place between the numbers and the Boundry.I know am reducing the field. I squeeze 7 men into 1 half of the field. 2 guys are cuppers or at the 2nd level. This has worked extrememly well for us. For many years I would kick from the middle, high & deep. You now must cover the whole field. That is tough. As the Special Teams Cor. for my high school, their is no question that Kick Off Coverage is #1. It can get you beat. We do try an play some reserve LB's, DB's & RB's on this unit. Actually about 4 guys are non starters but they are great athletes. Our kicker this year is right footed and puts it in the deep left corner everytime. Some teams will over load to that side. We just have to beat them. I have had us kick to the deep right corner when teams over load to our left. That is Interesteing for us as well. We just change our lane assignnments to the deep right and this works out well.
Good Luck
